Beef Tataki

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is a great sharing starter if you are entertaining this weekend, as it can be made in advance and drizzled with the dressing at the last minute. Like all of my dishes, this one is really straight forward and easy to make, but will leave your guests will feeling thoroughly spoilt! I made this for the Hunter and Gather UK website, but I’m sure they won’t mind me sharing it with you. Enjoy 😊

Serves 4 as a starter 2 as a main

INGREDIENTS

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

400g whole beef fillet

Salad leaves

1 small raw beetroot - peeled and cut into matchsticks

2 cloves garlic - sliced

1 chilli - sliced

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Dressing

1 clove crushed garlic

1 teaspoon grated ginger

1 red chilli finely chopped

1 tablespoon Hunter & Gather Coconut Oil

1 tablespoon tamari

Juice of 1 lime

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

METHOD

Season the beef generously. Add 2 teaspoons of coconut oil to a pan, when really hot sear the beef all over. Roughly 3 minutes on each side. Make sure you seat the ends too. Leave in the hot pan and cover with foil so it cradles the meat. Turn after 5 minutes, but leave for 20 minutes.

Gently fry the garlic slices until golden and quickly remove from the heat and on to kitchen towel.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Mix the dressing ingredients together in a bowl. When the meat has cooled and rested. Carve into wafer thin slices.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Place on a platter. Sprinkle with garlic, chilli, beetroot and leaves and drizzle the dressing.
