Sausage Rolls

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Organisation is key at this time of the year. These sausages rolls can be made ahead and frozen, then defrosted, egg washed and cooked when needed. I already have a batch on a baking tray in the freezer all ready to go. You never know when someone may pop in for a little drink? Having said that, in my family no matter who is hosting Christmas we all do our bit. This year, my mum is organising the canapés, Aunty Sasa will bring warm sausage rolls and pigs in blankets that she’s already cooked at home, Grandma Bobbi will bring a gorgeous cheese selection from Norfolk, leaving me with the roast! I find that people love being given a job or even a recipe to follow. So start delegating!

â €

1 sheet of ready rolled puff pastryâ €

450g sausage meat â €

2 dessert spoons onion chutney â €

1 egg beaten â €

â €

Pre-heat the oven 200 degrees. â €

Open up the pastry into the landscape position. Halve the sausage meat and spread one half in a line across, 5 cm from the top and the other half 5 cm from the bottom. Add the chutney along the line evenly. With a sharp knife, cut the pastry in half from left to right. Now roll the pastry into 2 long rolls and seal with your fingers. Turn over so the smooth side is facing up. Cut into individual sausage rolls, with a slit in each one. Brush with egg wash and bake in the oven for 25 mins or until golden. â €
